Who am I

Page history last edited by PBworks 15 years, 3 months ago

Who am I? I'm a mother, wife, educator, student, full-time professor seeking, multi-tasker. I have just made the decision to go after a Doctorate in Second Language Acquistion, specifically the SLAIT program offered at USF, Tampa. (Second Language Acquisiton/Internet Technologies). I am the mother of 3 wonderful, intelligent children; 2 boys 7 and 6 years of age and a daughter who is 3.  I am married to a wonderful British (Liverpudlian) chap. I have learned the essential nuances regarding the "British" and English language. I  taught for the Pinellas County School System for 10 years. I hold a masters degree in education; specifically in curriculum and instruction. For the past 9 years I have been adjuncting at SPC and St. Leo University teaching ESOL and applied linguistics.  I also administer the IELTS exam to candidates at Eckerd College. I am taking graduate courses here at Bayboro to get credentialed to teach comp. and hopefully this will make me more "marketable." I feel like I am in a "transition" period in my life.  I received my M.Ed. 14 years ago. The last time I took graduate courses was in 2000; so last semester, taking a graduate class after 8 years away, was an eye opening experience to say the least. I really enjoy learning and collaborating with intelligent, open, creative individuals. It is just hard for me regarding finding time to devote to all I would like/need to read and write about. I will do my best. The new technology is daunting to me, but hopefully I'll catch on. Please, those tech savvy individuals out there, take pity on me and feel free to help me in any way. I will be eternally grateful and hopefully can help others in some way by drawing on my past experiences. We all have strengths, so let's collaborate and help each other create the best work we can.  I am looking forward to taking this course, and all that I will learn. I would like to take the wiki knowledge I will hopefully gain and use it with my college students. That's a little bit about me.
