Ok, I need to be taught how to paste more than one thing onto a page at a time. I had five other cites I wanted to put on this page.

After reading the article on open source and clicking on various items within the passage, I was struck with the idea that many of these gurus ie: Linus Torvalds, Tim O'Reilly, Guido van Rossum are from Europe.  What are we, Americans, doing wrong? Obviously all of these aforementioned individuals now reside in the U.S. and some were even educated here in the U.S. However, what is up with our young , techo geniuses? Are they sleeping? Do they want the rights to everything they create like Bill Gates? Are we too caught up in gaining royalties for what we develop? I don't think any of the three gentlemen I read about are hurting financially. After awhile how much money does one really need.?I know Bill Gates does a lot of philanthropical work, but come on. Couldn't he do more good by opening the doors and sharing his knowledge? I'm pretty uneducated when it comes to computer programming and codes and systems etc. To be honest it kind of bores me. Tom Hallock once said, "If you're bored, it means you don't  understand something." I would agree with that. I don't understand computer programming, and when I hear about it I'm reminded of highschool when I had to design a program to pass computer class. Back then we had the large floppy disk. I've used computers, but I've never even given the slightest thought to design or how to program a computer to make it function. I wouldn't have a clue.

Open source, which it seems has been around prior to the computer revolution and the internet seems like a fundamentally good idea. However, even Linus Torvalds admits to using proprietary software if it gets the job done better. Ok, those are my thoughts please let me know what you think.
