Obama and Open Source

Reading about Obama and open source, I was somewhat impressed. I don't know that much about open source. In fact I hadn't even heard about it until I took Dr. Trey's class. I guess I never really paid any attention to all this open source vs. Microsoft stuff. After the first day of class I called my cousin-in-law's wife, who is really computer savvy and who works in the IT field. I spoke with her regarding Linux and she filled me in a bit more. Up until then, when you mentioned Linux in class I thought of Lennox (like the fine china and collectables) lol. When I say that I was impressed, I mean regarding Obama. However, as the article states it is kind of ironic that gov't should impose a "free" operating system. I think it is amazing that Vietnam is going to have all its gov't computers more to Linux. I laughed out loud when I read of the Russian operating system (Lenix) too funny. I know they were being silly, but it was still funny. I didn't know the U.S. military uses GNU/Linux, and you told us in class and my cousin-in-law mentioned it also that Wall Street uses Linux, too. I'm learning a lot about open source. More than I even knew I wanted to know.
