Section I

Section I is designed to generate feedback. No right or wrong answers, here. Let's just take the time to reflect so as to make the most of the second half of the semester.

Your response to each of the following questions (which comprise Section I) should be about 100-150 words.

Please read the description of the course goals as they are listed on the course website.

Do you feel we are proceeding towards these goals?- I feel that we are proceding towards these goals I feel that Dr. Conner is really opening our eyes to the four main points of writing, Rhetorical Knowledge, Creative Thinking Reading and Writing, Process, and Knowledge of Conventions. The more we proceed in the class the more I feel I learn about how to become a better writer.

What is so far proving most useful? I can't pick just one thing that has been most useful in this class. I feel that there are many different tools that have proven to be useful. I like the peer review and peer grading. I think it is a good idea to see what other peers think about your writing and how you can better improve it. I also like being able to blog about certain topics and relate them to your work or another person's work. I think this helps everyone to not only expand their knowledge but also to expand their writing.

What would you change, and why? I would not change anything. I think that the class is very descriptive and everything is clearly stated.

What are you learning in class? I am learning how to better myself as a writer, something I feel that I am not very good at. I am also learning new tools to use in researching topics in writing. Using a wiki is a fun experience and I am learning how to use it and hopefully soon I will be a wiki jedi.

What more do you think you could learn in class? To be honest I think I have a lot more to learn in this class. I know I need to work on my sentence structure and my transitions. I think that through peer reviews and Dr. Conner's reviews I will conquer these two main issues and hopefully become a better writer.

How can class be structured to help you learn what matters to you?  I think class is structured fine just the way it is. I am learning everything I feel that I need to. I like the way the class is structured and the way the wiki is set up. It is very easy to navigate through and a fun way to gain knowledge through writing.

How do you define your responsibilities to this class? My responsibilities to this class are to blog at least three times a week, to read the assigned readings, peer review papers, and to complete all the desired assignments.

How are you living up to those responsibilities? I am living up to these responsibilities pretty well. I have fallen behind a couple of times but I feel like I am keeping a good pace and completing all of the tasks required.

What are your greatest contributions to class? My greatest contributions to this class are to give my insight and my influence to my peers and this class itself. I feel that my opinion and views and the opinions and views of everyone else are a key element to this class.

What can you improve?  I think I could improve some more on my input into the class and my feedback on others' papers.

How do you define ShareRiff's responsibilities as teacher of this class? Dr. Conner's responsibilities are to teach us about the four elements of writing stated above, help to better our knowledge of writing, and to help us become better writers.

Is ShareRiff fulfilling those responsibilities? He is definitely fulfilling these responsibilities, he takes teaching to a different level, and helps us all to improve in all aspects of writing.

What more or different can he do to help you fulfill the work of this class? I think I am fulfilling the work of this class very well and I don't think there is any need of changing in that aspect of the class.

What more or different can ShareRiff do to help you understand the work he is asking you to do?  I think that being a little more precise on the course calendar and a bit more descriptive of what is due and when on that calendar would be helpful to understand what is being asked of us.

What suggestions do you have for how we can improve class, to help you learn more, and enjoy the class and the learning more? I don't think that there really needs to be any changes made in the class other than the organization and deadlines on the calendar. I have learned a lot so far in this class and I look forward to learning a lot more.

Section II

2. Reflective Cover Letter:

First off, I would like to say: coming into this class I wasn't much of a writer. I never liked writing and I am a big procrastinator. I didn't know anything about the four elements of writing. I didn't care who my audience was I just wanted to get my assignment done and over with. This class has opened my eyes to new ways of writing new ways of critiquing others' writing.

This class is helping me to better my  blogging and my writing. Being able to add pictures, links, and videos to a blog or a paper is something that I think can help to expand my knowledge as a writer but also expand the knowledge of the reader as well. To know who your audience is, is something that you need to better your paper. If you know who you are writing to it gives you a better way to reach out and dig deeper into the world of your audience. I think that finding new ways to reach out the audience is something I would let to get more into so that I can expand that audience and hopefully reach out to all audiences everywhere.

I am a very unorganized writer and I still need to work on that issue. I tend to write last minute and I tend to rush through it. I procrastinate a lot. This is one of my down falls in my composition process. I tend to sit in front of the computer 2 or 3 hours before my paper is due and try and spin out the best paper I can. I think that this is why my papers have not been as good as I think they could be. Also, my major flaws are sentence structure and transitions. If I gave myself more time I think I would be able to better my work and really say everything that I want to say. I do like getting feedback from peers in the class because I feel like this also helps me to create a better paper. To see what they would like to know more about or know less about helps me to be more specific where needed. I also like peer reviewing other papers as well because as I am reading papers I am thinking of how to better my own as well as  what is needed in their paper.

My goal for this class is to create a portfolio that is better than anything I have ever done before. I don't think that a grade is going to make me a better writer. I don't care what my grade is I care about coming out of this class being able to say that I am a better writer than what I was when I came out of it. I have taken other writing classes and I feel like I haven't really learned anything from them. This class I am actually learning how to be that writer. I know that I am not going to come out being a professional at writing, but I would like to be able to just be satisfied with my work when I am done with it. Both papers that I have written so far I feel could be so much better than they are and I just want to be satisfied with what I did when this class is done and over with.

I would also like to say that my eyes have been opened to the world of tabbed browsing in a whole new way. I love tabbed browsing now and will use it from now on to better my writing!!!
